The medium-sized crossover SUV is a packed segment. It takes a lot of ingenuity and innovation to stand out from the ten competitors in the market. On a global scale, automakers are battling dozens of types of crossover SUVs. The top five midsize crossover SUVs rank high in terms of space, comfort, performance, looks and technology come from Asian automakers.

Hyundai and Kia dominate the top 5, while the 2020 Mazda CX-9 took fourth place under the 2021 Hyundai Palisade. Both scored 8.3 points in a review published by US News.

GMC only had one midsize crossover on the US News list best midsize SUVs for 2020- the GMC Acadia 2020. It barely came in eighteenth place with a score of 7.3. GMC Terrain 2021 didn't manage to impress reviewers enough to make it into a top 10 or top 20. It doesn't appear to have created a positive or negative vehicle review list. Let's take a quick look at why GMC Terrain is having such a hard time getting noticed.

There is nothing in particular that distinguishes the GMC Terrain from its competitors

The next year will be about which medium-sized crossover SUV offers the largest load capacity. SUVs that don't impress buyers with spacious cabins and generous cargo space are likely to be tough to sell. Things like technology, fuel efficiency, and good looks are prevalent, but most buyers of SUVs do more than just drive it. And even if they want to use it for outdoor activities, they want an SUV that can carry all of their belongings while being comfortable.

Aside from the luxurious and expensive GMC Terrain Denali, it can't compete with the popular Toyota RAV4 or Honda CR-V. According to AutoTrader, the 2021 GMC Terrain is no different from a host of other better-equipped mid-range crossovers. The reviewers also found the shifter design less than appealing. However, it's hard to tell if it would matter much to the average buyer.

For example, the GMC Terrain doesn't have third row seats compared to the Toyota RAV4 and the Honda CR-V. The Toyota RAV4 Prime costs about $ 120 to $ 130 less than the Denali Terrain and still offers 302 horsepower. Toyota also claims it can go from zero to 60 in 5.7 seconds.

Even the RAV4 hybrid delivers 219 hp with high fuel efficiency. So when you can measure yourself against competitors at the same prices, it's easy to understand why the 2021 GMC Terrain doesn't stand out from the rest.

Critics enjoyed driving the 2021 GMC Terrain

Despite AutoTrader's initial opinion of the new GMC Terrain, reviewers who tried it had fun driving it. While not as haunting in the turns as other midsize SUVs, the body tilt is reported to be minimal. The centimeter-precise steering of the terrain enables the driver to drive safely onto the road.

The GMC Terrain has four trim levels and two engine options. The first is a 1.5-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder, 170 horsepower (horsepower) and 203 pound-feet of torque (lb-ft). Despite the turbocharger, the reviewers wrote that it is only suitable for routine tasks. However, the lower torque is beneficial for everyday city commuting. For a little more power, the 2.0-liter, four-cylinder, turbocharged engine develops 252 hp and 260 lb-ft.

A nine-speed automatic transmission with front-wheel drive is standard on both drives. All-wheel drive is available as an additional option. The 1.5 liter engine is part of the standard equipment of the SL, SLE and SLT fairings. The 2.0-liter is optional on the GMC Terrain SLT and standard on the Denali. The official manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) has yet to be determined but is estimated at $ 26,200 to $ 39,500. Considering the Kia Sorento has the cheapest average MSRP of around $ 30,200, the GMC Terrain is inexpensive.

The 2021 GMC Terrain has received excellent safety ratings

In addition to its below-average loading capacity, the 2021 GMC Terrain offers a minimum of safety features. These include stability control, anti-lock braking system, emergency call button, reversing camera and pedestrian detection. Every GMC Terrain model comes standard with forward collision warning, automatic high beam, ...
