This Modified Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 Looks Like a Baby BMW GS

Bajaj may have an extensive range of motorcycles in our country, but it is losing out on the ADV tourer front. The local manufacturer does not currently have an ADV tourer in its portfolio and given the current trend in adventure motorcycling, Bajaj should really look into it. We recently came across a modified Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 which led us to believe that Bajaj-KTM's 200cc platform could serve as the perfect backdrop for the creation of an affordable ADV touring bike.

More details

The bike belongs to Tijo Thampi and is very tastefully done. So much so that it could be passed on as the Baby BMW GS. The similarity is astounding and the custom build looks functional.

List of changes

The front end has been fundamentally revised and does not look like the standard Pulsar NS 200. The headlight setup is aftermarket and, as already mentioned, is reminiscent of the BMW GS series adventure motorcycles. The headlight setup consists of two projector headlights that are supposed to provide better lighting at sunset than the series setup. Also on view are the extended tank covers that wrap around the headlight assembly in a beautiful way. Overall, this modified Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 does not look exaggerated and works well.

The owner has also installed a pair of red handguards that work well with the rest of the bike. The rear is also completely modified and the taillight seems to be borrowed from the Mahindra Mojo 300. The standard rear tire has given way to a dual-purpose tire that emphasizes its adventure intentions. There is also a rear luggage rack that takes care of the essentials for your weekend trip. That particular assignment makes us wonder if it's time again for Bajaj to consider bringing an affordable ADV tourer to market.

Is it time for Bajaj to launch an affordable ADV tourer?

Affordable adventure motorcycles have gained immense popularity in recent years. These SUVs present themselves as ideal tools for exploring nature and are like the SUVs of the motorcycle world. We currently have heroes like Hero Xpulse 200 and Royal Enfield Himalayan in the lower range of ADV tourers. Taking into account the engine configuration of the Pulsar NS 200, it would be the perfect platform to produce an ADV tourer. The 2020 Pulsar NS 200 is equipped with a liquid-cooled four-valve engine with 199.5 ccm displacement, which can generate a maximum output of 24.2 HP and a maximum torque of 18.5 Nm.

In other related news, Bajaj Auto recently shared a new TV commercial, "Chalk Lines" with the Bajaj Pulsar NS 200who shared a message to follow the new norms of social distancing while riding. Interestingly, this commercial also showed the Pulsar NS200 in a new and sporty red and white paint job. This gives us an indication that Bajaj is planning to introduce a new paint scheme for its popular Pulsar NS200. The company is already selling the bike with a red and black paint option. This new color option makes the bike even more attractive and sporty. The upcoming paint scheme will mainly include three hues, the red, black and white paint combination throughout the bike.
